alfer® was founded in 1973 in Wutöschingen-Horheim in the south of Baden-Württemberg. At the strategically important heart of Europe at cross-regional level, one of the most significant profile specialists was established.
Aluminium – a versatile light metal!
Shiny, silver aluminium has become a permanent feature of everyday life. We are confronted with its versatility almost everywhere. For example, it makes trains, cars, ships, and even airplanes lighter and therefore helps us to save fuel. It is used in countless industrial applications. Aluminium is also notable for being helpful in the home and for our special DIY jobs. This is all possible because aluminium displays a series of attractive properties: it is light yet strong and is easy to process mechanically. Above all, aluminium is non-toxic, rust-proof, has unlimited applications, and is 100% recyclable.
In the first few years, the product line ranged from tools to appliances. The breakthrough came with the introduction of the aluminium profile assortment and the patented alfer® profile shop as a display stand. Nowadays we are listed with many leading building and DIY stores at home and abroad.

Aluminium profiles that only fulfilled one purpose were not adequate for many of our customers. The aim was to make our profiles multifunctional, so we thought about how to develop our existing range of profiles. In the course of this revision process, we developed a profile system which we first presented at the international hardware show in Cologne in the year 2000.
combitech® – a patented profile assortment which is unequalled
The unmistakable alignment grooves and the coordinated dimensions make it difficult to imagine our range without combitech®. As with a construction kit system, you can work with these profiles and let your imagination have free reign. There are no more limits to making what you want and solving all your problems in the DIY and trade field as well as model construction.
Another highlight was the continuation of this system by developing our assortment of sheets. With a unique range of products, an unparalleled assortment of accessories, and clever presentation, once again we soon became an innovative supplier of profile systems in the DIY market.
Our next step was our steel profile assortment. Using a new process, we created an incomparable quality of finish featuring a rust proofing primer which is immediately ready to paint and is totally ecological.
We completed our profile system with logika – the logically perforated profile range.
Our trimming and order assortment was completely revised in 2007 and technically sophisticated steel hooks were added. Parts of the range are given a special rubber finish on the top surfaces to achieve better anti-slip properties. We produce this rubber finish in green for the garden sector and in red for the indoor sector.
clipstech®-plus – the screwable, highly stable parquet profile assortment was presented to the public for the first time in 2007.
alfer® identifies itself with Germany and produces the majority of its product range at its home in Horheim. With a workforce of 220 at our sites and in the sales field, we generate a turnover of 45 million Euros (as at 2007). Our products are sold all over the world, although our strategic focus is in Europe.
