Joint coverings

Joint coverings

Even tile coverings that appear to be rigid are subject to expansion forces. This expansion is imperceptible to the human eye, however it can cause serious damage. The damage is manifest in cracked joints or even broken tiles. The tile covering loses its surface quality. Water can penetrate, and secondary damage can occur. Expansion joints in tile coverings are thus necessary whenever you tile on differing substrates, if the substrate already shows expansion joints, or if the tile coverings are subject to great stress.

ExampleExample
Here it is clear what can happen if expansion joints are not taken into consideration in large rooms. The tiles crack due to tension.
In order to form a clean expansion joint, it's best to use an expansion joint profile as shown in the photo. It is simple to install and has a professional look.

The joint covering profile is a T-shaped transition profile that is used between two adjacent floors. It is pressed into the joint that has just been filled with silicone.

Aluminium, uncoated
Joint coverings in uncoated aluminium are the cost-effective alternative to anodized or powder-coated aluminium. Users also have the choice of varnishing these profiles themselves.

Aluminium, anodized
Joint coverings in anodized aluminium have a special finish that does not change with moisture.

Brass, solid
Joint coverings made of solid brass are suited to high mechanical loads and are resistant to most chemicals. A coat of oxide (patina) develops due to its reaction with the air. If this is not wanted, it can be removed with polishes.
