Tile edgings
Standard profiles
The standard profile is the most basic edge protection for tile floorings, providing effective protection against damage to tile edges due to regular angles. Unglazed tile edges or cut edges should be protected against mechanical loads. Of course tile edgings also add to the looks of such edges.
Furthermore, tile edgings make installation easier. They provide straight lines when starting and finishing tiling work and joints to other floor coverings, plaster or wallpaper, individually shaped doormats, and lots more.
When two tiled surfaces come together at 90°, you get an unattractive corner as shown here in the picture. The unglazed tile edge is visible.

To obtain an attractive looking and mechanically protected tile corner, you should add a tile edging profile to it.

Aluminium, uncoated, with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Tile edgings in uncoated aluminium are the cost-effective alternative to anodized or powder-coated aluminium. Users also have the choice of varnishing these profiles themselves.
Aluminium, anodized, with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Tile edgings in anodized aluminium have a special finish, which does not show signs of alteration even when exposed to damp. Tile adhesive and jointing compound can tarnish the surface, which is why visible areas should be cleaned after installation.
Aluminium, powder-coated, with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Tile edgings in powder-coated aluminium are available in various colors and can therefore be matched to the color of the tiles. The coating adheres very well and is resistant to impact.
Brass, solid, with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Tile edgings made of solid brass are suited to high mechanical loads and are resistant to most chemicals. A coat of oxide (patina) develops due to its reaction with the air. If this is not wanted, it can be removed with polishes.
Stainless steel V2A, with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Tile edgings in stainless steel are suited to high mechanical loads and are resistant to most chemicals. They are often used in the food industry, hospitals, and swimming baths, etc.
Plastic (hard PVC), with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern
Plastic tile edgings are the cheapest version and are suited to normal mechanical loads. Damp conditions no longer affect their finish and they are resistant to various chemicals.

User tips
The profiles with alfer®-fix universal hole pattern have a special perforation system with the largest possible perforations to allow the adhesive or mortar to penetrate for an optimum contact area between tile and substrate, furthermore with round and long perforations. You can use these to nail or screw the profile on, e.g. for pre-fixing in the wall area. This will make the later work stages easier.
